Moldova: Greening vocational education and training
On 16 and 17 October 2019, a two-day workshop on greening vocational education and training (VET) was held in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. The workshop, which was designed and technically supervised by Dr Klaus-Dieter Mertineit, was attended by 35 representatives of ministries and
authorities as well as companies, vocational training institutions and non-governmental organisations. All participants agreed that VET must play an important role if Moldova is to achieve its environmental and climate goals. On the other hand, it was unclear what this could look like in concrete terms. Dr Mertineit presented and commented on a large number of concepts and examples that show how the requirements of sustainable development in Germany - but also in other countries - are integrated into the vocational training system. On this basis, goals and initial concept ideas for the consideration of green skills requirements in VET in Moldova were developed on the second day of the event. These are to be deepened and elaborated in further workshops.
The workshop took place on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH within the framework of the programme “Supporting Dual Vocational Education and Training in the field Green Economy“, in which the GIZ supports the Moldovan partners in setting up and implementing dual training structures.
